Those of us with retirement accounts are paying the price of deregulation.

I like Obama, he is a thoughtful intelligent man. He's a decent family man and has reached this point in his life through hard work.

Obama's life story of achievement through education and hard work is one I can relate. Obama graduated from Columbia and Harvard Law School and was elected president of the Harvard Law Review. Obama taught Constitutional Law at University of Chicago for ten years. Obama knows personally how it feels to experience prejudice and to be treated like an outsider. He is a Christian and has never been a Muslim. Obama ran the business side of his primary campaign significantly better than any other candidate of either party. His thoughtful approach and even temperament will dramatically increase America's influence with other nations. Obama believes in strong but smart foreign policy: aggressive diplomacy coupled with a willingness to use force when necessary. Obama has expressed a willingness to talk to any nation without preconditions, but with appropriate preparations. That is one of the things I like about him. I don't believe in war or killing except as a last resort.

I was also impressed with his response to ScienceDebate2008. A group of scientists posed 14 questions to each candidate. You know I work in water conservation. Obama's answer was spot on the mark on the water question. I know he is asking advice from some of the brightest minds in the nation. I know $150 million seems like a lot of money. It is not money that is really being burned in this awful war. It is being donated to him by the people of this country, it's not being burned up. This money is being spent in America. It's business income that is going to advertising companies, printing companies, marketing companies, transportation companies, the money is being fed right back into the economy, feeding families and providing jobs. For that matter, I'd rather see it spent here than in a war. My heart cries for the families that have lost children and for the thousands of men and women who have been wounded in Iraq and Afganistan. My husband and all 3 sons served this country honorably. I pray another young American's life is not destroyed. I think Obama and McCain have the right to campaign and we have the right to vote for the person of our choice. That's what makes America great.MrsGreenThumbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10088611427109618499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20379385.post-28632796829525383902008-10-22T15:15:00.000-04:002008-10-22T15:15:00.000-04:00No, you're not alone in your thinking, Sandy. I ho...No, you're not alone in your thinking, Sandy. I hope and pray that enough people will wake up before the election.
And yes, it's a disgraceful waste of money that could be put to much better - to feed and clothe the hungry everywhere.Kerrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18362584475435433892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20379385.post-62706553466711234492008-10-21T19:01:00.000-04:002008-10-21T19:01:00.000-04:00I do know he won't get my vote! You're not alone.

paige...Yes, I'll be praying but I'll also cast my vote and depending on the outcome I may be praying more than usual for the next 4 years.

anonymous...You make a good point. That's an awful amount of money to be spent on a campaign which could be put to better use. Obama's total contribution collections for the entire 2 years would astonish everyone, and that's just way too much to be spending on a campaign. There should be a reasonable cap on each campaign.
I also agree that 24 months is much too long to be listening to campaign speeches & TV ads, but I think it should be cut down to about 6 months for the primary & presidential campaign combined. Nobody really listens until it's down to the last month anyway, unless you're retired or you're a politician.Sandy Hatcher-Wallacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15011307599473627922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20379385.post-18494219637771301902008-10-21T09:24:00.000-04:002008-10-21T09:24:00.000-04:00Cheyenne & Junierose....You've both hit th...Cheyenne & Junierose....You've both hit the nail right on the head and that's exactly how I feel,
and so do a lot of people I know. The one who realize and don't want to go are helpless to prevent it. We're all caught up in it!!

Oh man! Yes! I know it sounds far out...but don't you also have this feeling??

All we can do is hope and pray things will change! It's all going to campaign ads, commercials and stadium rentals and it won't mean a thing after election day.

I don't know how Barak Obama can sleep at night knowing that with all this money he could have encouraged the people to donate it instead to all the hungry children of this world. The money he has set a match to already is an exorbitant amount that ordinary people can only dream about.

How much money is too much to be spent on campaigns? And why do we have to endure 2 years of hearing this bozo.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20379385.post-59987282992160862142008-10-20T14:18:00.000-04:002008-10-20T14:18:00.000-04:00Humm maybe you are the only one... and maybe not.S...Humm maybe you are the only one... and maybe not.
Sandy all we can do is pray and put it in God's hands.
