With spring comes nest building and new life. Here is a baby mallard duckling who got left behind by its mama because, it was one of the last to hatch out. It was soon reunited with its mother and brothers & sisters.
At first it didn't want to follow its mama because it had imprinted on me, as I was the first "mama" it had seen. It didn't take the duckling long to make the right choice though and follow its own mother.
The birds have also been busy with nest building and laying their eggs. Here Cucoo proudly displays his three beautiful blue eggs....a sure sign of spring.

Aww. Really cute duck. Did ya'll have tornado damage last night?
A pair of Mockingbirds are busily building nest in a small tree at the front of our house. I love to see them there each year and hope that the neighborhood cats don't get to the nest this year! I love listening to their singing!
Spring is in the air! What a cute little ducky. As with most anything they are so cute when they are babies.
Cucoo does seem to be awfully busy these days. And he looks so proud!
Happy Spring

Just wanted to say too, that is no wonder the baby duck didn't want to leave you because you are so nice!

His three beautiful blue eggs? I bet Mrs. Cucoo would beg to differ.
bornfool...There is no Mrs. Cucoo....Cucoo is a single father.
Pretty baby..so glad he's not an orphan, altho I'm sure Cucoo would rise to the challenge..Hugs, Finn
Love seeing the nest and eggs, and Cucoo looks very happy and proud..*VBS*
Such a cute duckling - glad he got back with his mom - mother knows best.
Had three little people today so my blogging had to wait.
Are those really eggs in Cucoo's nest? They sure are pretty.
Doubleknot...Yes those are real bird eggs, but they really belong to Mrs. Robin Redbreast.
Hehe very cute. I would have wanted to keep that duckling. But of course that's not such a good idea, seeing that it would likely outgrow the tub pretty quickly :)
Little one looked up & said, Look, I like Cucoo
