Good Friends

On Saturday the Four Bears in the Woods, which happen to be my son and his family, invited us out for a cookout. A couple of their friends had volunteered to come over to their house and move a HUGE pile of rocks & hardened cement. The rocks were in the way of some work that needed to be done to their house. It was a monumental job. The rewards were a fine meal and fishing in the pond afterwards.

Jimmy spent most of Saturday making a bigger opening to the building where my bike is kept. Since the wheels were added the opening to the building was now too narrow to be able to get the bike out easily….So we didn’t arrive at Brian & Reva’s house until after 5pm. By that time almost all of the rocks had been moved and there weren’t too many left to move. We jumped right in and helped…Jimmy used the sledge hammer to break the cement loose and Randy stacked some of the rocks, making a small wall in the driveway and Donna & Randy used the wheel-barrels to haul them off to a nearby gulley. I carried rocks to Randy, for the wall, and put pieces of cement into the wheel-barrels. Brian was the supervisor, by the time we arrived, because of his bad back and Reva was in charge of the FOOD. Which I might add was DELICIOUS!

Below are a few pictures: The children were allowed to play today and just have fun.
When we arrived this was all that was left of the rock pile...not too many.
Emmy, Brandon and his best friend Matt in the pool.
This is the small rock wall, that Randy was working on. The little building that you see was the sauna, which is now used to store lounge chairs, fishing gear, table umbrellas and stuff like that...probably even some garden tools and a hammock.
Here everyone is relaxing after eating. That's Emmy on the swing. After eating some food, Emmy ate 2 platefuls of watermelon...I couldn't believe how much she loved watermelon...and how much she was able to eat of it. The more time I spend with Emmy, the more I find out how much we are alike.
This wasn't Matthew's first or biggest bass, but this was the only one I made it over to the pond to photograph. He had already caught 5, to the dismay of his dad, who had only managed to snag a bluegill or two. Dad blamed it on the fishing pole, so they switched and Matthew kept on catching the big fish anyway.
Brandon practiced with his bow & arrow and I was quite surprised at how accurate he was in hitting his target. He's really good. Brandon put his target against a high bank wall for safety, away from everyone.

OOPS! Wrong Saturday picture...this is a picture taken at the lake where we went for a fish fry. That's Brian and Brandon in the pontoon.

Looks like a lovely time!

I'm only slightly envious that you got out to play (and work) while I'm stuck inside with a pup who pees everywhere and a sick kiddie...

Thanks for coming out and spending some time with us we all had a good time. I really enjoyed the pictures and thank you for this post. I don't think I can top this one either you do such great posts, so I will just add a few pictures to my blog that I took before my camera batteries went down. I am so glad you take these pictures for us. What great memories we will have.

We were so thankful to everyone for helping us with this project we really apreciated it and couldn't ask for better friends like Randy and Donna and for family like you and Jimmy. You guys are sweethearts and we have such a good time with you two. We really enjoy the get together's we have with you guys and our very dear friends. Their aren't too many people that would take the time out to come and help someone in need since we are unable to do very much physical work anymore. We are very fortunate to have you all around. I can't thank you guys enough.

If there is ever anything that you guys need just call us and we will be there to help you.

We had such a good time and are planning on more get together's this summer.

We love you guys very much!

Now that sounds like a great weekend! Had a good laugh over Mathew catching more fish than his Dad, that often happens when hub goes fishing with our girls. Your family sounds like a fun bunch! :)

Sounds like a delightful day spent with family and friends...when there's a project to be worked on, it sure goes faster and is more fun when you get so much help:-) I love the area, such beautiful surroundings!!

Saw where you visited SOS (Sooth Our Soul)...we haven't done much with it lately as you can tell....Poppa is doing amazingly well...I keep waiting for him to take that last turn for the worst but he is eating and up and about!!! So I'm enjoying what I can while I can. Brat is here with me for a couple of weeks and we are having a great time just sitting and BSing.
I love the pics...Kentucky is such a beautiful state...no one can deny us that, can they!!!
