Meeting a blogging buddy

As most of you know, Jimmy & I went on a long trip to meet a very funny and delightful blogger named Rachel. Most of you know her through her blog called Sliding Through Life. The picture above is of Rachel and my husband Jimmy.

I was so excited about meeting her that I could hardly sleep the night before…I was also a bit nervous and kept telling myself that there was nothing to be nervous about…but you know how that goes…and as it turned out, there was NOTHING to be nervous about.

There to greet us when we first arrived was PUP, Rachel’s dog…He was doing his business in the neighbors yard. *G* Rachel soon made her appearance and we were introduced to Rachel’s husband.

We spent a wonderful day with Rachel and, my husband being the talker that he is, even found out that Rachel’s brother is married to a long time friend & co-worker of his. In fact, I think that Jimmy and Rachel know many of the same people.

Rachel & I had already discovered through our blogging that we had something in common when she recognized some of the pictures that I had posted…and we soon discovered that we had worked in the same hospital, at the same time, although we had never met each other.

You asked for pictures…so here they are.

Rachel took us to a place called Haney's, where we bought some freshly made fried peach & apple pies. It was surrounded by orchards of apples & peaches...and I have to say that those fried pies were delicious!

This is a picture of Rachel...and that's me peeking from behind the tree. Rachel took Jimmy & I to a lovely restaurant called the Harbour Restaurant, and this tree trunk was coming up through the floor of our outdoor dining area. As Rachel said in her post...we were the only souls brave enough to eat outdoors with the temperatures soaring in the 90's. It wasn't bad though because the deck was covered and there was a slight breeze blowing in from the lake.

This is the view from our table...isn't it beautiful! No wonder Rachel likes to eat here.

This is another shot of the tree, coming up from the floor and disappearing into the roof top. The deck was about 18 feet off the ground, so we were pretty close to the tree top.

Rachel is such a kind and caring person that she travels to this old abandoned farm everyday, with a sack of cat food, to feed some wild strays that live here. This was the first stop that she made on her way to showing us the sights.

Jimmy and I had a wonderful time and we had so much fun exploring some of the hidden treasures that Rachel took us around to see. We hope to see our blogging buddy again soon.

Love the pics and so glad you had a good time.

I've met a few of my online friends and may get to meet another next month when she visits CA.

I was nervous too but we all fit like we'd known each other forever.

Sandy,
What fun for you to meet a blogging buddy!
My KY grandma used to make fried apple and peach pies. She tried to teach me, but I could never master the pie dough made with lard!

It's funny how sometimes when people meet for the first time, after awhile they realize that they had connections prior to meeting. Small world, they say.
Glad you all had a good time.

It is like I always say, we should all get together one day at a sort of "blogger's convention!" Sounds like you had a wonderful time, and got to add another friend to your address book.

Glad you had a wonderful time meeting with Rachel. She sure doesn't look like I figured she would. Maybe in August you and hubby can come down and I will set up a meeting with another lovable blogging buddy. I think that would be a hoot to all get together, don't you? BF, you know I'm talkin' 'bout you. Let me know.

Motherkitty...We definately will make a date to come your way sometime in August and just maybe BF can join us also...That would be great.

I want to thank all of you for visiting and for your nice comments. I know lots of Rachel's friends came over too and I hope that you will come back to visit my blog again.

Kerri...Life is a great big adventure that we only get to do one time, so I try to enjoy every moment of it.

Darilyn...I think Jimmy is a 'hunk' too, although he doesn't considered himself one.
