Maiden Voyage - 213 miles

With the wind in my face, I ride free.
The sun soothes my soul.
The clouds shield me from the sun’s baking rays.
As I ride, I thank God
For all the blessings He’s bestowed upon me.
I marvel at all the things I see:
The beauty of nature adorned in all its glory.
I ride fast…the daredevil in me cannot hide,
It comes out when I ride.
The sweet fragrances of flowers fill the air,
And when the forest is burning,
It smells like winter.
The rain stings my cheeks,
As it falls from the sky…it’s warm,
And heated by the hot summer sun.

Today two bikes left the building
And, I was on one of them…
Jimmy on the other.
There was no one on the seat behind me.
No one to guide me…no extra set of eyes
To keep me safe.
No back rubs while I rode,
To soothe my aching shoulders.
Today I was on my own
And made to lead the way.
Today was my Maiden Voyage.

For those of you that don't know...the red bike is the one I ride and the blue bike is the one Jimmy rides.
Mine has extra wheels or you wouldn't catch me riding it by myself. I guess I need to set another goal for myself. I'll think of something.
For clarification the bikes above are:
Candy Apple Red Yamaha Royal Star Venture 1300cc,
Blue/Black Suzuki Volusia 800cc

Mmmm, and do they make a nice rumble sound? What a great way to do a road trip in these days of high petrol prices. I'll bet you get good mileage!

Congradulations Mom!!!
You did it.
Your next goal could be to ride the Suzuki by yourself.
Never the less I am proud of you.You have fought through alot to get here, good job and ride free Maiden Voyager.
And of coarse,be careful mom xxxooo

Tomas Dennis...can't wait to see you guys again.

Val...the petrol (gas) prices have been $2.11 per gallon for a couple of days now...and yes, it's more economical to ride the bikes and WAY more fun. Can't wait to go on another overnight road trip.

Somershade...it's scary for me to think of riding the Suzuki by myself. I don't bounce back from injuries as fast as I used to. *LOL* Besides, I would hate to bang-up Jimmy's bike.
I may give the little Rebel a try though next week or even maybe today.

Nice rides! Hope you and Jimmy have a wonderful time. I loved the poem about riding - you are so creative.

I can picture you with the wind whipping against your face and your determination strengthening as you charge forward.

Glad to see you are doing well! Meg

Oh, so pretty.

One of my goals in life is to learn how to drive one of those thingies before my 40th.

But I should overcome my fear and learn how to drive the damn garden tractor first!

Those are some bikes! I imagine they must be pricey too!
Is there a rivalry between ppl who ride Harley's and ppl who ride other bikes? I had heard of it, but wasn't sure if it was true.
PS-there is a biker rally in Port Dover, ON every Friday the 13th...if you wanna go for a 'little' drive...its a small beach town on Lake Erie...

It is wonderful you made your trip. The one thing I would miss was that massage for your shoulders. Here's hoping for many more days of happy trips.

Go Sandy! You're my hero! (or should that be - heroine!)

Now that you mention it, I could use a good massage right now. Sitting here is making my shoulders ache!
How creative you are Sandy, as well as having all that spunk! The poem is wonderful. Apparently 'real' women ride bikes and write poetry :)
You go girl! But stay safe...we love having you around :)
