Rain, Rain, Go Away

It’s rained here for the last 2 days….close to 5 inches. Last night we were treated to a beautiful lighting storm with high winds and heavy rains. We lost a beautiful old Hickory tree by the creek out back…it completely uprooted and came crashing down injuring several other trees on its way down. The tree was approximately 3 feet in diameter…I’m just estimating here, but it was VERY tall.

Motherkitty just called and said they were approximately 70 miles away and that it has rained all the way…it won’t be long until they are here.

I decided to tell you guys about the downed tree which I couldn’t photograph because of the rain and where it’s at. I would have to crawl around on the muddy creek bank, that, at the moment is overflowing to get a picture of it and normally I would, but Motherkitty, Tomas, Kitten Yarn & the girls are on their way, and I didn’t want to get all muddy. I did take an umbrella out there to get a peek at it…and it’s going to take some time to get it all sawed up. Luckily it missed falling on our little red dump wagon (that gets pulled by the riding lawnmower) and also missed our row boat.

Well, what do you know?! Here’s the sun and it’s shining brightly. I sure hope that it last for as long as Motherkitty, Tomas & family are here. It’s warm outside and if the hammock dries out, I know that Dancer girl & Little One will have fun playing on it…all kids do. They’ll have to wait until tomorrow though because the ground is soppy wet today.

I hope the sun is shining wherever you are today…and I hope that you are spending the weekend, as I am, surrounded by the people I love.

I've been wondering if the storm we keep hearing about was near you. Goodness that's a lot of rain in such a short time.
Enjoy your visit with those you love this weekend!
((hugs))

Tell MK hi for me! Hope you have a nice visit. Downed trees around here mean only one thing - firewood!

How lovely that company is coming!!
That sure is a lot of rain in a short time. We're having a rainy Saturday up here too. It's gloomy. We were so lucky to get the beautiful weather last weekend for the wedding!
That's too bad about your tree. Ross and I were wondering why there was no picture...until we read on....yep, can't get muddy with company coming :)
Ross says he'd love that hickory. He just bought a saw mill!
Hope you have a wonderful time with your family and those little girls get some sunshine so they can play in the hammock :)

Happy Birthday Sandy.
So pleased that tree didn't do any damage.

Sorry about the tree Sandy. I was up late last night keeping on eye on the weather. I think they had calmed down before they got here, but we got lots of rain. The rain guage said 3.5 inches. It's thundering now and we are getting ready to be hit by round 2.

Hope you have a wonderful visit with your brother and family!!

Happy Birthday. I spent today running kids all over the place - surrounded is a good word for it.

Hi Happy, Happy Birthday. Hope you have a truly wonderful day. That storm must have been pretty severe, the poor old tree, I wonder what historical things it witnessed in it's lifetime. Cheers Margaret.
