Early morning storm

An early morning storm causes much destruction. It came before daylight waking all in the house up and soon we had 3 cats in our bed with Jybow crawling under the covers for safety. By daylight we saw to our dismay that we had lost some trees in our yard...One close to the house and some back by the creek. The tree closest to the house just bent our chainlink fence a bit and one of the trees by the creek hit our small boat. We won't know if it hurt the boat until we cut the branches away from it. There is no house or building damage...so that's a real blessing...and all pets are also accounted for.

Although Jybow, our orange female cat, has been out to assess the damage, at the moment she is being very clingy...so I will have to end this post or the cat will be walking on the keyboard. I also need to get outside to help Jimmy in the cleanup...At the moment Jimmy is working on the chainsaw...it has a little mechanical problem.

Here are some pictures...I gotta go now and help clean up the mess.

That is terrible! I am glad everyone is okay and there wasn't any building damage. I hope the sycamore tree is okay! :) I love that tree.

We didn't get any storms down our way. Sorry to see you guys did. If we can help in any way just hollar.

By the way, love the arts and crafts fair pictures. Brian seemed to really enjoy it.

Oh my goodness. Sorry to hear about such a terrible storm. Very glad you all are ok & all the babies are safe as well. We had a heck of a day yesterday, really it started on Sunday, rain rain, came a flood & 2 souls were lost in a freeway underpass. No one we knew, but a sad loss nonetheless. Today was fog as thick as pea soup, as the saying goes. But now it is sun shine & blue skies. More rain is scheduled for tonight and tomorrow. That’s it for my weather report. Don't work too hard & I hope its not too hot there.

It looks like you have plenty of wood for someones fireplace or wood carvings. I am glad that you were not hurt.
Take care and be careful.

Well, we had bookoo's of rain last night...poor hubby had to walk picket all by himself from 2-4am...noone else showed up!! But in order to get their dinky $100 a month strike funds you must show...does that make sence??
Anyhow he came in here to see the pictures and commented on how green ya'lls trees still look...our color is just about gone now...differences in climate I suppose...
:-D

Oh my Sandy! It looks like Mother Nature paid a visit. Glad you guys are okay! We didn't get any storms here thankfully. I didn't think we were supposed to have any bad ones in the area either. Looks like lots of clean up work to be done. You two don't work too hard at it...okay??? Wish I could come and help you clean up. I'm pretty handy with a chainsaw, and stacking and carrying, and all that stuff!!

That was some storm! Glad it didn't cause major property damage. Everything there looks so green! We are as dry as a bone. I'll be posting pictures soon of what our ground looks like right now!

This is just awful! I'm glad you had no damage to your house or outbuildings, though. Do you think it was a tornado or just high winds?

Storms like this make me very nervous!!! Hope you can find someone to haul off all that wood that Jimmy's cutting.

I would have pee'd my pants! Weird, how I love a good lightening & thunder storm, but wind scares the crap out of me.

So glad you and all yours is ok.

A nasty storm Sandy, glad to hear no structural damage but it will be years before your property looks the same again.. sad.

Oh my gosh! At least no one was hurt and no major damage. Trees can be replanted.

I've been wondering about you and Tammy (and my Houston friends as well).

Glad to hear from a couple of you at the same time.

Mother Nature sure can turn mean at times!! Goodness, how very lucky that no one was hurt but what a mess! We've had lots of rain and high winds lately but nothing to cause damage like it did in your area!! Stay safe!!

OMG! What misfortune or luck as you mentioned all persons and felines accounted for!! Unbelievable the power of natures force! Those kitties so nosey out there exploring the tree!Glad your home was spared.

Wow, more trees down, you have had a bad year for that. Thankfully no structure damage. Too bad we don't live closer - we could help you out by taking some of that wood (firewood) off your hands! Will you get someone to help with cleaning up the mess, or is your husband like mine and won't hire anything out that he can do himself, even if he shouldn't?

Susan...Jimmy & I will be doing the cleanup with our trusty little chainsaw...but thanks for the offer.
So far we have one tree cleaned up.

Paige...I'm so sorry to hear about all the flooding that you have had and I'm glad that you & Red are okay.

Ky Boo Gal...I hope your hubby doesn't catch a cold from having to walk the picket line in the heavy rain.

Motherkitty...Jimmy thinks it was a tornado, but we have a history of straight-line winds around here, although a tornado did hit this property about 13 years ago.

I appreciate all of your comments and concerns. I plan to plant a couple more trees...I love trees but it takes them so many years to mature, but I will plant more anyway. Nothing was hurt but the trees and a little bent area of the fence, so I feel very lucky that nothing else was hurt.

What a nasty storm! It sure did make a mess. That's so sad about the tree damage, especially your lovely Ash. I'm very glad no one was hurt.
Those kitties are being very helpful, assessing the damage :)

Oh Sandy, that all looks soooooooooo bad. If I had seen that and not read your post, I'd be scared to death.

What a lot of damage! I suppose it was wind??? They have been something else this past year! So glad the fur babies are ok and that you and Jimmy came through fine. And no building damaged or not much. Thank God! Big hugs, Finn

I am so glad you only had damage to your trees and that every one is safe. Storms do sometimes just come out of no where. Poor kitties bet they were glad to snuggle in bed with you and jimmy.
