This is the "thanks" I get...

I had read somewhere, that if you put a piece of a small carpet around the cats litter box this will aid them in getting the litter dislodged from their little paws, as they step out. I had noticed one of the cats always rubbing his paws on the first step of the tub to remove the litter stuck between its toes...so 2 days ago, we put the pieces of carpet in place, at both locations. In the above picture the cats have refused to use the litter box.I have always kept this empty litter pan in front of this enclosed litter box to catch any litter and to keep it out of the carpet, as the cats step out...So we put the piece of carpet in the pan...Mind you, we were just trying to be helpful to the kitties.

Well this morning one of the cats let us know what they thought about the new carpet pieces. In the 2nd picture they left us a "Poopy Present" in the pan!!! On top of the new carpet piece.

I asked Jimmy who he thought it was and he said, "Lets line the 3 cats up and slap them around and see who talks first, well meows." Funny...
But he wasn't any help. Of course I had to clean it up because, it was my bright idea and I immediately eliminated Daisy...it wasn't her....she was innocent of the evil deed and it wasn't Hopalong...So that just left Jybow, Jimmy's cat. But, I'm just guessing.

The carpet is being removed today and things are returning to their former states. The cats don't like change and I guess this is something you would have to put in place right away, like when they first arrive into your home as little kittens.

I can't believe they did this...they're grown cats and they NEVER have accidents.

You're right! Cats don't like change and they were telling you in words and actions. Vincent decided he didn't like how we had rearranged things in the family room and decided to show us with his claws! (on the carpeting) grrrr...

One of the things that happen when you bring kittens into a new household is that the older cats will do their bussiness outside and let the kittens use the kitty litter pans. Kitten Yarn has some mousers to give to new homes that want to adjust their older cats in the way mentioned above.

We had the audacity to change our cat's food once. She not only wouldn't eat it, she connected herself to me for the three days I tried to wait her out. She'd just sit and stare at me, it was hideous!

I don't like change, do you....I'm sure the kitty's are still trying to figure out what's up with this rug business......with the rug in the pan, they probably thought it was a new kind of kitty litter...lol

This is so interesting as we are thinking a little cat would be a welcome part of our home being empty nesters and all!

I love the comments left by your blogger friends here and will use these when we get our little new family member.

Sandi as always your blog is lovely and I enjoyed the photos you posted........now I am off to read your gohst story.

Pea...that little devil is so cute and perfect for you. *LOL* And of course it was Jimmy's cat...my cats wouldn't do a thing like that!!!

Judypatooote...I'm still laughing at your comment. *LOL*

Sue...Cats claws on the carpeting and the couch grrrr. I don't know what to do other than tell the cat to stop.

kat campbell...we changed the cats food once and they got the runs. We had to take one cat to the vet and ask for medication for 7 cats. It took two weeks to cure them.

lee-ann...cats are pretty nice pets regardless of what anyone says.

Well, it sounds like it would have been an idea that would have worked ... if the cats would have gone for it, that is!

I love Jimmy's strategy :) As usual you've made me laugh!
The carpet was a good thought, and certainly worth a try. Cats have their ways of letting you know whether or not they approve of something different, don't they?
Wonderful creatures to have around, even though occasionally we might have to clean up after them.
Definitely Jimmy's cat...no doubt in my mind!
