My Little Tree

Look!!! My Christmas tree is up. Does it count if it's only 6 inches tall? *LOL*
I usually don't put up my tree this early but I was inspired by Pea of Pea's Corner. She has so much Christmas spirit and enthusiasm, that it's rubbing off on me. I even started my own little Christmas Town. Pea has a very impressive Christmas Village...You really need to go over and take a look at it. CLICK HERE.

Here's the beginnings of my little Christmas Town...and YES, that's my Christmas tree. I have another Christmas tree up and it's a whopping 9 inches tall...hehehe...I'm working my way up to the really BIG tree that's about the size of a Charlie Brown tree. As you can see, my little town is small right now with only a gingerbread house, sleigh riders, reindeer & elves, Santa & kids, two sign posts and the Christmas tree. I wanted so much more, but $$ the cost...OUCH! My town will just have to grow a little at a time...There's an ordinance against the massive & fast growth of the town, so says the mayor...Jimmy. But I have control of the treasury, so we'll see. *G*

Here's a closeup of my cute gingerbread house...it lights up and did I mention that the reindeer fly??? Anyway they sway back & forth to look like they're flying. Today Jimmy & I went in search of a new small fiberoptic Christmas tree and there were none to be found. Yesterday & today we went to several stores and we were very surprised to see so many empty shelves and Christmas items on sale...You would think that Christmas was over already. I guess that's what happends when they put the Christmas decorations out right after Halloween. So, since I didn't get a new Christmas tree, I started my Christmas town instead.

On another note...while I was looking at Christmas pictures I came across this Christmas postcard...Yes, it's really me and it's where I got my profile picture from. My paternal grandparents must have had it made. Ah...I remember this day very well...I was an ONLY child back then (at least I thought so) and I believe a little bit spoiled too. I love you big brother...even though you took away my "only child" status.

Oh Sandy, your gingerbread village is just soooo adorable!! That's how I started, just a few pieces at a time before I had everything I wanted to make my little farm complete:-) My mom use to always have a village scene under the tree...they were little cardboard houses full of glitter on them!! How interesting that your profile picture came from a Christmas card your parents had made, it's just wonderful!! xox

Both you and Pea are really starting to put me in the mood for Christmas :)
Love your little village- beautiful gingerbread house.
Noticed over here in Scotland today the same trend- empty shelves already- what is with that? The bigger shop in town was strangely quiet- are we all ordering online these days? l know l have this year.
Much love

Your Christmas village and little tree are sooo cute. My girls would love it! Everyone around here is putting up their Christmas things early too, so we put up the tree yesterday, but still have to do the lights and ornaments. We love driving around looking at the Christmas lights. Our bank usually has a whole Christmas city and it is really fun to go and see.

Just love your decorations. I like the little village you have started. Sorry but you can keep the snow I am a true southener - sitting here with the heat on with it 55%!

How cute, SAndy. I love the gingerbread village beginnings. Wouldn't it be adorable to have gingerbread people all around instead of real people?
