Red Rocks & Cactus

The deserts of Arizona and New Mexico are some of Jimmy's favorite places to visit. If you ask him where he wants to go on vacation, he will always say he wants to go to Arizona. He'd move there if I'd only say, "Yes."

The picture to the right I took in New Mexico and there are quite a few different cacti pictured. Jimmy is a little more fond of cactus than I am although I do think they're very pretty, I do have dreadful childhood memories of stepping on them while running barefoot in our yard. Also on one of our trips to the desert I ate some cactus apples and got those little tiny thorns stuck in all of my fingers and had quite a time getting them out...it took me several days to removed all of them and they were very painful.

This next picture is of Jimmy sitting on a log in front of a tree. This tree I especially remember because I used it for cover as I did my business behind it...I only pee'd.
Rest areas & bathrooms are sometimes 200 miles apart, so it's hard for me to hold it for that length of time. And too, sometimes the trees aren't as thick & full as this one was. I have been caught out where the only cover were skimpy bushes only 2-3 feet tall.

The red rocks we found in New Mexico. This picture was taken right before we were almost overtaken by a huge, huge sand storm, but we drove so fast that we were able to stay in front of it and it drove us past our destination which was to be Four Corners (New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Utah). Because of the sand storm we ended up in Colorado for the night. The next morning we doubled back and returned to Four Corners. Sometimes when you're on a bike you have to do what you have to do....RUN, or maybe I should say RIDE LIKE ____!

This last picture was taken in southern Arizona. That's Jimmy standing in front of that tall cactus and you can see part of our loaded down bike on the left. Those were the days when we traveled on one bike before I learned to ride.

That day was beautiful as you can see by the blue skies & white fluffy clouds.

There's nothing like motorcycling across America...I wouldn't trade it for anything, and if you haven't done it yet you've got to try it.

you know a man's gotta go when a man's gotta go...or women!!!
i suppose by the "lack of story" you didn't accidentally sit on any cacti when those moments of release came. hehehe

Oh, what wonderful memories of your trip! It looks so pretty! That tree does look like a good one to go behind for a nature call! Ha!!

I can't believe I'm so far behind in reading your blog. I'm sorry you have been under the weather. Glad to hear you all have been riding. I think of the two of you on the super nice days and wonder if you are taking advantage of it to ride!!

You take care and say Hi to Jimmy!!

What a wonderful time you must have had.

Hope by now you're feeling better and are ready for another trip. If you decide to visit Yosemite, I'm right down the road.
