Carpenter Bees

The porch at Calico had to be repaired because of Carpenter Bees, also known as Wood Bees.  The bees had hollowed out holes in several locations to hatch their young.  The holes are their nests.  Rick filled up all the holes that he found with silicone caulking, but the next day we found that some of the Carpenter Bees had gotten trapped in their nests and had borrowed their way out through the caulking, so he had to re-caulk the boards again and repaint them.

Online I found a Carpenter Bee Trap and we hung it up this morning.  Here's hoping that the bees use it instead of making new holes.
