Staying at home or, Sheltering in Place does not mean that we can't go outside and get some fresh air and exercise. I still can enjoy working in my yard and mowing the lawn. I've always enjoyed mowing the lawn and listening to music through my ear pods. It's going to be another beautiful day today and maybe I'll mow again for the 3rd time this Spring.
My Bing cherry tree is in full bloom, but the weatherman has predicted that we may have two days of frost this coming week. That may mean no cherries this year. I feel for the birds because they love the cherries so well that I don't ever get not one cherry anymore. Once the birds and the squirrels found my tree, it was goodbye cherries. That's fine tho, because I love feeding the wildlife around my home. I even buy extra cat food for the stray tomcats that pass thru here too. They don't stay long, sometimes just passing thru and other times they stay for a day or two resting up before they finally get on their way again. I have had cats stay for a couple of weeks while healing up from their wounds after fighting other tomcats. They just lay around and get stronger and then they are on their way, sometimes never seen again and other times coming back year after year.
I thought that I would get a lot of house cleaning done during this time of sheltering at home, but I just don't want to do that. I clean only what is necessary to live and get by, and that's about all. I'd rather be outdoors. It's just too pretty to stay inside.
For some reason they still have not shut down the construction companies. Those men, like Rick, work in close quarters with as many as 20-30 men not keeping the 6 feet apart from each other mandated by our president or the governor of Kentucky to help halt the spread of the corona virus. They are still allowed to work and to me the building of new homes is not an essential job. Yes, maybe if a tree falls through your roof it would be an emergency to call them to repair your home, but just to build new homes or apartments buildings is not an essential business. They also don't wear face masks. I heard that one of the construction workers in Richmond tested positive for the corona virus, but since the state does not give out names of those infected, I can't know for sure.
Today Rick has a doctor's appointment at the hospital for a routine 3 month checkup. I called to see if he should come in and they said that it was fine for him to keep his appointment. I know that at the door of the hospital they will take his temperature and if it's normal he will be allowed into the hospital. I usually go with him, but today only the patients with appointments are allowed inside. I hope that he wears his mask & gloves. I only say, "I hope," because he doesn't like to and won't usually wear them unless I am with him. I keep stressing to him that he can carry the virus home to me accidentally, but he doesn't seem to care. I know that I won't be able to count on him to take care of me if I get it. I would take care of him, but he's already told me that he would leave if I caught it and go elsewhere to live. I'm being very careful not to get infected and I totally clean and disinfect my car when I have to go out and get groceries. I also have always wore a mask & gloves and the last thing I want to do is infect Rick or anyone in my family.
Update: Rick called me from the hospital and read the sign on the door to me. He is wearing a mask and has his gloves on. He was a little hesitant about going inside but I assured him that he would be alright as long as he kept that mask & the gloves on (unless the doctor told him to remove them during his exam), but I told him to be sure to put them all back on upon leaving the exam room and the hospital. Maybe after all, Rick is concerned and taking the corona virus threat seriously.
