I'm Proud To Be An American Where at Least I know I'm Free

Here is my 13 year old great-grandson Jack standing next to the World War II Memorial.   As Americans we are free to travel.

My grandson Matt played a round of golf a day or so ago with his son Carson.  This is a picture of Matt.

My daughter Suzanne went fishing again this afternoon.  It's hard to keep her away from water, ha ha.   This isn't the only fish she caught, but I like posting pictures of her in the picture with her catch.  Suzanne is the only one of my children who has dimples like her Uncle Dennis.

And probably yesterday, because today it was kinda cold, Lyle once again put on his shades and looked like Mr. Cool.  Although today was sunny, yesterday was warmer.

I'm enjoying life just listening to music and relaxing my days away.  Today it was kind of cold, but the sun made it look so pretty outside.  My poor Redbud tree lost its pretty purple blossoms to the front last week, but Rick's Redbud tree is so beautiful.  His tree escaped the frost.

Today the No Kings protesters were around our town.  I read yesterday that they expected 1000 protesters here, but some of the cars that passed by said that they only saw about 12 total scattered here and there.  It was probably too cold for them, or maybe they all decided to travel to Richmond, Kentucky to join the protesters there.  Our little college town is always protesting something, but I have to say that they are peaceful here, or at least I've never heard any different.

I live in a peaceful area out of town.  Not much happening here except for an occasional druggy stealing stuff that they can sell quickly to support their drug habit.  We have no murders, but people can't drive very well, so we have lots of accidents especially on our new roundabout which is located up the road from my house.  Somehow no one expects it to be there at night and they run straight through it and end up knocking the signs down and getting stuck in the grassy area in the center....and of course damaging their vehicles.

Since there is no discipline in schools or in some homes these days, we do have rowdy school kids that have no respect for anything nor anyone and like to argue with the police.  I'm sure that they all can't be that way tho.  Thank goodness my great-grandchildren are homeschooled and very well behaved and respectful.  My great-grandchildren are like kids used to be when I and my children grew up.  They're very well rounded and do a lot of family stuff together.  I'm so proud of my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and wouldn't trade any of them for all the riches in the world.  The grandchildren all have good jobs and take very good care of their families, again, I have to say that I'm very, very proud of them all and I love them all very much....even Doug.

Music sure mellows a person out.

My Favorite Holiday: Christmas

I miss those Christmas' that we used to have with family up until 7 years ago when they all stopped.  I guess it was just too hard to continue on with Christmas with Jimmy gone.  Right after Jimmy died in Oct of 2014 only Brian & Reva came over on Christmas Day to cheer me up and to try and keep the tradition going.  One year later in 2015, Rick baked the Christmas turkey and we got together for the very last time.

These two pictures of when Rick baked the Christmas turkey and helped out with the dinner.  I thought that he enjoyed himself, but I guess he didn't because he refused to have another Christmas after that year.

From years past here are the Christmas goodies that I would fix.  I would start baking Banana Nut Bread 2 weeks before, and Fudge making a week before.  I loved Christmas and getting together with family, and I always wanted to make everyone's favorite dishes.  Of course I had help too, Jimmy and also Rick jumped right in to help make everything just perfect.  Brian would always bring his cheeseball and Reva Mac n Cheese, and that Chicken dish I loved so well.  Sandie would bring her Banana Pudding and Peanut would bring a macaroni salad.  We had plenty of food, food was no problem, and we made so many happy memories.  I really miss those days.

These are not all the pictures, but just those that were handy.  Suzanne is in the background picture of Sandie & Peanut.  Suzanne is on the fireplace mantel.

I've inserted more of Brian & Reva because they are both no longer with us, which saddens me to no end.  I really miss those two.  And Christmas is especially sad because  Reva left us on Christmas Day 2021.  We lost Brian in Nov. 2020, Sandie, Dec. of 2020 and then Reva a year later.  No one should lose that many loved ones so fast, but it does happen.  And to beat it all, none of us were over Jimmy's death yet.  We were still coping with his death on Oct. 2014.

I have so many wonderful Christmas memories and pictures, way too many to post anywhere.  I even have a 1950 picture of me on Christmas Day at my grandparents house in Pasadena, California.  It's at the same house where I was "Abandoned in Pasadena" in 1945, but what better place for me to be abandoned at.....at my grandparents house.

I'm hoping with all my heart that Christmas day will be a much happier day for Brandon once his son is born, and that we can continue with some of the old Christmas traditions that we used to have.

Family Pictures

I'm trying not to put too many pictures on one page because it makes for better viewing.

Sunshiny Days

It's another beautiful Spring day here in Kentucky full of sunshine, and the kids are getting out enjoying this beautiful weather.  Carson, Suzanne and Matthew went kayaking last weekend and Suzanne sent me these pictures of Carson that I'd like to share.

I'm not really sure where they went, but I think this kind of looks like Owsley Fork Lake.  I guess I should have asked her, but I didn't.  It looks pretty and peaceful wherever they went kayaking tho.

Megan sent a couple of pictures of Myles, Lyv and herself eating and it appears that they are enjoying their meal out on the deck.

Megan made a Mexican Pizza and it looks like Myles may have helped her put on some of the toppings.

It looks good and right after I saw those pictures I had to go fix myself something to eat.  My food wasn't as good as theirs, but it did fill me up.

It sure would be nice if we all lived in the same town so that we could see each other in person more.  I miss all of my family more than they know.  I also wish that Brandon & Krystal lived closer too, but kids grow-up and they move away.  It sure would be nice to have those old time family gatherings like we used to have, but things are so expensive now.  Once Jimmy died all those family gatherings went by the wayside.  Grief played a big part in that because we all missed him so much and family gatherings just didn't feel right without him, but some of us still miss us getting all together with the whole family all at the same time.  Maybe some day we'll get back to all of us getting together at least once a year.......maybe we can call it a Family Reunion and meet at some park or something.
