I saw the fireflies last night twinkling around the backyard, and they always bring back childhood memories for me, of chasing around the yard catching fireflies with my brothers in that big old house in Arcadia. I loved that house and wished that it was my house now, but unfortunately it no longer exists. I had never seen a firefly until that time.Around here when I say fireflies I'm asked what I'm referring to and I have to explain that I call 'lightning bugs' fireflies. What are they called where you come from?

They are called both around here. Just depends on who you are talking to. There were a lot of them here last night as well. I live right next to the woods and it surprised me the first time I saw them up in the trees ... way up high. I had only seen them in our yard where we lived previosly.
We were watching "lightning bugs" and "Fire Flies" a few nights ago when mom and I were swiming at night.
We call them lightning bugs in these parts. My cats love to sit at the window and watch them flit around.
i say both, but i think i say lightning bugs more
