Pinewood Derby Racers

Here are just a FEW of the little Derby cars. There were just too many to photograph. Baby Bear's car is the black one, next to the green car...and the black car with the yellow circle was Papa Bear's racer.

Great coverage of the RACES, Sandy!! You probably could get a job with NASCAR...LOL..personally I love type of car race better.

How neat to be the Grandma reporter!!! Lovely pictures, I felt like I was right there again..take back years and years to my young son, racing his car at Cub Scouts. Thanks for the memories! Hugs, FInn

I remember doing this with my oldest son when he was in Boy Scouts. He took "Best Paint", but didn't do much else. He was thrilled anyway! ~ jb///

It is great participating in the building of those cars. Father and son project are the best. Kitten Yarn has a baby crib, E-Son has a step-stool all father-daughter, father-son projects. Seeing those cars in action is great fun. Checking out the ideas of how to make a piece of pinewood move fast down the track and how they are painted is my favorite.
Love ya

I think this would be a fun thing for kids and adults.

I haven't read the Sunday paper yet so maybe there'll be some coverage of it in there!

Thanks again Grandma Bear for posting this. I put up a few pictures on my blog but most of mine are movies. You take great pictures!

We are so glad you came along with us yesterday we had a great time.

When you mentioned Derby Races I had not looked at your blog yet and thought big racers - I think the little ones are better. It is so nice that father and son have projects to do together.

This sure brought back a lot of memories. I was a den mother for 5 years. It was a labor of love, the little boys were so cute. The pinewood derby was the highlight of the year, they worked so hard on them. I always loved the ones that the kids did most of the work. I was a great scrounger, I always asked businesses for free stuff. I'm still using trivets my boys made about 35 years ago. These events bring great memories. Thanks for a lovely story.

Ohh, childhood memories just came flooding back. I remember my brother and I building our Derby cars. Mine was hot pink with green and my bro's was black and silver. I also remember crying like a two year old when I lost. Always was a bit of a sore loser! I had forgot all about the Derby cars. Cool.
