The waiting room

Today it's off to the dentist office...Brian is having a molar surgically removed. The dentist attempted to do it himself instead of referring Brian to a dental surgeon. Brian is called in right away and I don't see him again for about one and one half hours.

The waiting room is a VERY LARGE area. Besides the dental office, this complex has pediatric & internal medicine doctors, on site mammography services and a pharmacy...and everyone waits in the same waiting room.

The waiting room is divided by a wall, that just reached the mid back of my chair...one side of the wall is for sick people and the other side is the "Well Patient Waiting Room." But...I don't think that the germs and virus' can read the signs...telling them to remain on the sick side. They probably feel well themselves doing what they do best...making people sick.

I'm sitting, of course, in the well patient area because I am just here with Brian, and I'm surrounded by 5 sick children...whose parents apparently don't want their sick kids getting any sicker, by sitting in the "Sick Patient Waiting Room" area.

It really doesn't seem to matter anyway, since there are really no dividers, between the sick and the healthy, other than the short walls...And we are all sharing the same air-space anyway.

As I sit there I'm thinking that maybe I should wait for my son outside or in the car...but I decide to take my chances and sit it out...so I keep writing.

That's really quite funny... though seemingly archaic at the same time. Here's hoping that the germs knew which side of the wall to stay on, at least while you were there.

About the tree behind the cockatoo in my posting - it's the trunk of a palm tree. I think (from memory) it's a foxtail palm. I'd know for sure if I actually photographed any foliage, but that didn't happen (typical me...).

Tanya...Thanks for answering my question about the tree in your post. I thought that the white looking trunk was unique and really stood out.
Thanks for stopping by.

I hope Brian is feeling much better now that he has the tooth out.

Don't worry too much about the floating germs. If you were meant to get sick, they would find you wherever you were hiding. They were probably on every surface in that building and were floating around on the ventilation system. You're doomed!

That's funny, but so true......it's almost like "Do you want Smoking or Non Smoking?" and it's on the other side of the room....like smoke is not going to get to you, because it say's no smoking..... funny pictures too, I hope Brian feels better, and you didn't catch anything.....

When my kids were small, the pediatrician's office had separate rooms for sick and well visits, not sure if it helped, but at least they were separate rooms! After working in a hospital and doctors office for many years, I won't even touch a magazine in the waiting room!

Brian and I are thankful that you took him to the dentist and also picked up Brandon again at school. Like I said before in the other comment, Brandon was disappointed he had to go home and didn't get to go to grandma's house again. You and Jimmy are so sweet and we really appreciate all you do for us. We are so blessed to have you both in our lives. Sounds like Brian was a real trooper! I fixed mashed potatoes thinking he would not be able to eat last night but he insisted on eating anyway. He hasn't complained much about pain but his face is swollen some. He is doing better than expected though. Again, thank you so much for everything. Love you, Reva

Brian says thank you too.

Morning Sandy, you have been one busy lady lately. Love the cartoons, sometimes they just make our day.
Hope Brian is doing ok...those big etractions are something else. He's lucky to have you so close. Hugs, Finn who's off to see the "eye guy" and pick up more books on CD..*VBS*

This is a great post! I could just picture you there, sitting warily in the 'well' section, surrounded by a fog of sickly childrens' cough and sneeze droplets.

Hope your immune system has leapt into action, and that you stay very HEALTHY!

Oh, I forgot to say THANK YOU! for your comments to me recently about blogging less-than-anonymously. I really appreciate your advice, and I will definitely be trying to continue just as I had been.
