April fool's joke

I sure had a good April fool’s joke pulled on me….it came a little early, when I was least expecting it. It came in the form of a nice ecard from Hallmark Cards…It was from The Four Bears in the Woods and, I thought to myself, “Oh, how sweet of them to send me an ecard.”

So, I clicked on the link provided, which took me over to the ecard. The ecard was an interactive card with a sweet little kitten on it. The instructions were, to use your mouse to control a hand that would pet the sweet kitty. So, I did and the kitty began purring very loudly and wiggling around as kitties do…the more I petted the purrier (my word) the kitty got. Then SUDDENLY the kitty turned all HISSY and SCRATCHY and RAN OFF WITH MY HAND in it’s mouth…only to return all purry again with the words over his head that read, “April Fool’s!”

The music continued to play on the ecard as I read the nice message at the end, signed by The Four Bears…And I ran the mouse over the cat a few times to watch him go from a nice purring little kitten to that mean scratchy one.

After I finished playing with the ecard, I closed the program…
“That’s funny,” I thought…”the music is still playing. Perhaps I needed to close the email from which I clicked my link to the ecard”…so I did that. The music played on, so I closed everything I had open…The now IRRITATING MUSIC continued to play, so I opened my Media Player thinking that maybe the music was some how coming from it…NO, that wasn’t it.

Now, I’m at the point that I’m thinking that I need to call the Geek Squad to get that darn music turned off, because I don’t think I can stand this little jingle any longer. I’m about at my wits end, when I decide to turn the power off on my computer…When it reloaded...Waalah…NO MUSIC!

My only message to you is...Beware of ecards on April 1st.

That was a good one.

I don't even open ecards anymore. There's too many weird things getting send around.

There are so many sites that automatically play music that I keep the volume of my speakers set to "0."

I think I'm turning into a stick in the mud. LOL.

Happy April Fool's Day.

Darilyn...I believe that the lingering music was meant to be the real April fools joke...

And it was certainly ONE of the best jokes that I ever had.

I said ONE because I got married on April 1st and found out later that it wasn't real and had to get married again 21 days later...that was a REAL joke.

Hugs, Finn

I thought about playing some "April Fools" jokes on someone myself, but I have seen so many of them TURN BAD, that I decided against it. Don't want to see someone have a heart attack and then try and undue it by saying "APRIL FOOLS"! Isn't he a blooger that hits your blog occasionally anyway? I wonder what he did for his bithday? I hope it wasn't a JOKE! ~ jb///

I would have gotten a kick out of the kitten also - a little gruesome but fun. I have had music from ecards continue to play and play but don't remember what I did to stop it - maybe turn off my computer like you did.

Glad you had a nice April Fools Day and didn't get fooled too bad.

LOL that would be the perfect joke to play on my husband, who is so neurotic and over-protective of his computer. On second thought, he probably wouldn't think it's very funny. I would though. hehehe

I had an e-card sent to me yesterday too. It scared the crap out of me. Decidedly NOT funny. But my brother laughed his ass off. At my expense. Bastard!

I don't get e-cards anymore; so I haven't run into that situation. It may also be that some part of a computer program got stucked like a scratched record used to. Do you remember records and record players? :)

That music thing would have freaked me out completely! Mama Bear did well!

I'm sorry the e-card had such an effect. I liked the kitty and thought you would enjoy it too. I guess I will have to be careful of my e-cards from now on. I had no idea it had the music that just kept playing because I turn my sound down alot. I thought the kitty petting it and after a while the hissing was the joke?? Guess I was wrong.
