5th Grade Night

Today we attended 5th Grade Night at Roundstone Elementary School. Our grandson, Brandon, is ‘movin on up’ to middle school and a different school several miles away from his present school.

All the 5th graders made a memory board of their elementary school years, which they each proudly displayed. All the parents went around and looked at all the memory boards of all the students. Also with their memory boards they each had written an essay of their worst injury…and don’t ask me why this was chosen as the topic, because I don’t know. I read several of their stories and they were VERY funny and well written…even though they were about injuries.

Here is a picture of Brandon sitting in front of his memory board.

The 5th graders later all assembled in the middle of the floor and sang a song for us, “The futures looking good to me and I’m ready to go…” which they performed very nicely. Following the song they each received a T-shirt (pictured above) with all of their signatures within the 2006, as a memento from the school, as well as from each of their classmates.

On their way out, Brandon and his best friend Matthew really cut loose and, were acting silly. There is no school tomorrow because it’s election day and then only 2 ½ days of school till summer vacation. I might add that both of the boys are really looking forward to going to their new middle school in the fall.

This summer they are looking forward to football practice, camping, activities with the Boy Scouts and summer camp.

Mama Bear's battery malfunctioned...it just plain died, so she will be posting more pictures of Baby Bears big night sometime later this week, on her site...The Four Bears in the Woods.

About two weeks ago we went to a GRANDPARENTS DAY at our granddaughter's elemetary school and it was a blast. They had over 1,000 grandparents show up and they served us ALL brunch. Now that was NICE! Sounds like you had a good time with your grandson. Hope you had a Happy Mother's Day too. You missed my Special Flower Post to ALL the Mom's! ~ jb///

Moving up to Middle school is such a big step. No more little kid. New responsiblities, new friends, new challenges. Hope Brandon has a nice summer!

Brandon certainly looks happy. A big step up for him - it is nice his friend is moving up with him. I know from previous posts that Brandon is a bright young person. Keeping them busy over the summer is a good thing also. All those activities - no time to get into mischief. Know you must be very proud of him.

We will be attending 5th grade 'graduation' for our grandson on Thursday, as you say moving on up to middle school. Time flies...

Great post! I don't know if I can top this post you said it so well.

We are so glad you came. I am so glad you brought your camera... and what nice pictures!!! *VBS*
Thank you for sending me some and making me a disc.

I am so glad that Brandon is looking forward to going to the middle school... but mom on the other hand.... well.. we will just have to see how I handle the first day. I had to fight back tears last night! But I'm sure with his friends and family he will do just fine.

Love ya,

Mama Bear

Wow, what changes take place! When I was going to school they didn't have middle schools yet!! Ha!! Guess I'm getting old.

Looks like he had a great day!

Somershade...WOW!...I can't believe that Thalia is beginning highschool in the fall. You'll have to post some pictures of her graduation from middle school so we can see how grown-up she's become.

Oh to be young again. I remember the excitement of the last few days of school and how grown up I felt moving on to junior high. That's so nice that the school plans these events. Although the worst injury thing is too funny.

We didnt have middle school in my school board ...you went to elementary school until grade 9, when you start highschool.
Can't imagine what a wild and wooly place middle school is!
But what an adventure!

Brandon is moving up to middle school, huh? That's quite a milestone at that age. Makes them much "cooler".

Great t-shirt. I like how they all signed it inside of the lettering. Very good idea.

Congrats to Brandon! I can't believe they're out of school for the summer already. We don't finish until close to the end of June (24th I think).
