Fruit Orchard

This is a Santa Rosa Plum which the frost bit this year. It bloomed out just a little too early because of our early warm spell...and, while in bloom...the frost hit.

This is one of our cherry trees. This one is the Bing Cherry and, it's really loaded this year...The birds & the squirrels will be very well fed.

The Concord Grape vines are also loaded with developing grapes and we should get a good harvest this year.

Our Georgia peach isn't doing so well...I think it needs to be in Georgia and our red raspberries need to be replanted. My husband also wants to start a new crop of strawberries.

Vegetable Update: 24 Rutgers tomato plants have bitten the dust...The frost got them.
We just laugh because, last year we had to replant our garden three (3) times: first the frost got it, then the birds got it, or was it the bugs...it might have been the rabbits...but anyway...it was gone. Then when it came time to reap the harvest, we were gone on vacation. I often ask my husband, why do we bother planting a garden in the first place? And the answer is, you plant your flowers and I'll take care of the garden.

That's nice. We had a plum tree before but it's gone now. It was a Java plum. I don't know if that's the same as your Santa Rosa Plum. Does the fruit become violet when ripe?

I don't know about you but I just get the urge to plant something I can eat. Right now I have some beans growing - the packet said bush but they sure look like they are vining to me.
A lot of times I could say that all the main courses on the table were raised by me.
And of course we have to have the flowers.
Sorry your garden bit the dust so to speak - maybe you will get some thing this year.

Hope you have good luck with your garden this year. We didn't seem to have a very good garden last year either. As a matter of fact, there were a lot of people I heard didn't have a good garden last year.

I love fruit bet you can't wait for that!

Isn't it just like that some times? Unfortunately for the past several years I have been living at an apartment complex in town and can't even have a garden. Oh well.

I think it's neat to plant things and watch them grow. This year I only put out onions. Too many critters love to eat everything else so I give up. I always put out a few tomato plants but they never seem to do any good, so I figured I wouldn't bother with it this year. I'll just go to the Farmer's Market.

I thought the frost got my apple tree, but it looks like it's going to make it. We'll see!!!
