It's a jungle out there....

Things are really growing around the watering hole, and the frogs, water snails & fish are loving it! This little water garden has lots of activity these days. There once was a little snake there too, but the cats took care of him. There’s a resident chipmunk or two, that scamper about, but I haven’t been able to get a picture of them. There are also grey squirrels that come to the cats feeding table for some cat food and then stop around the water garden, while the cats are taking their afternoon naps. I have never seen a bird, other than a baby bird around the water garden…although they do stop at the fountain and the creek.

I did manage to get a picture of a frog sitting on a lily pad. I have seen 4 frogs sitting on lily pads at once. They usually jump in when I approach, except for two of them that are getting used to me taking their pictures. *S*

The white water lily bloomed out this morning and has a beautiful yellow center.

Caught in the act…with a lily bud in its claws!!!
So, this is why my water lilies have blemishes to the outside petals.

I couldn’t figure out how the rips were already on the lilies when they bloomed…It didn’t look like insect damage, but since I caught Jybow in the act of clawing and biting the water lily bud, now I know.

This is Jybow’s first spring outdoors and she is exploring and tasting everything, as it is all new to her. The other cats don’t bother anything, but Jybow will even jump into the air to wrestle a flower down to the ground. So, I take close up pictures of my first blooms before she spots them and hopefully by next year, I’ll be able to take pictures of the whole blooming plant.

Loved your kitty snagging that lily bud!
At least you solved that mystery. . .

hee hee - the case of the cat-clawed blooms. I'm sure Jybow will grow out of this young cat behaviour, like you say!

Sandy, these are beautiful pictures! What a pretty pond you have. Love the little frog, and your kitty is adorable. They can get up to some mischief, can't they?
Those waterlilies are gorgeous!

Lovely pictures. I love the pond and I love the frog sitting there! Such pretty flowers too. I want a water pond....do you have any trouble with leaves in the fall? I think that might be a problem if I had one here.

Great pictures. A good thing you caught Jybow in the act or you may have never known why the outside petals were damaged.
You must have so much fun with the pond.

Beautiful watering hole you've got there!!!!

The frog looks so peaceful and content on that lily pad!! Does he "croak" for you?

And two colors of lily blooms in one picture. I'm in awe. They are really pretty.

It's interesting to hear of Jybow's interest in the outdoor experience that is so new to her.
