Pretty flowers
I enjoy the beauty of the flowers and I love to photograph them, but naming them I leave up to you. In the second picture are flowers from a hedge...and, pictures 4 & 5 are peonies.
What beautiful flowers. My one regret is I have never had luck growin peonies down here - I think they need more cold. Keep the pics coming. I read the garden sales books just to look at the flowers and dream.
Hi Sandy ~~Lovely photos of flowers and the butterfly !! Glad you enjoyed the visit. And sorry there is a "Sheldon" in your family. Hard to live up to.
These look so much like "art" photography it makes me wonder if you have had photography schooling...
The peonies are so delicate, but there is something about the purples ones (last pic) and the rocks that really appeals to me. They remind me a little of lupines, but they seem to be much smaller.
Franny...you are so kind but, no photography schooling here...I just went into the menu of my camera and are using some of its manual settings. (see May 1,2006 post)
I loved the peonies...that is one of the flowers I miss from Kentucky. I am trying to grow a patio garden but this dratted weather is not helping me any! They have had "plenty" of rain now they need some warm sunshine...but I think my petunia I brought back from Kentucky last month is not going to make it...she is looking just too puny :-(
i have the honetsuckle & the purple ones with yellow stamens after it....don't know the first & last(except Jesus). Aside from astilbes & pink primroses, peonies (pale pink)are the perennials I would love to have next. All your flowers are beautiful
Beautiful job with the photos Sandy. You are weeks ahead of us! The first purple flowers are chives (onion family)...do you ever use the stems in your cooking? The purple spikes look like veronica (speedwell) but that blooms in summer...a couple of varieties bloom in early summer. I really don't know! Your peonys are gorgeous. Your yard must be beautiful. We had still more rain today and cool temps, but the sun is shining now.
Kerri...thanks for naming them...I had no idea the first ones were chives and I found out that the last spikey looking ones were exactly what you said, veronica speedwell (I went and got their name tag).
Your title said it all, Pretty Flowers. I love flowers too. I so enjoy see people who have neat flower gardens. By neat I mean awesome, not necessarily all manicured and all that, although that is nice too! Mine is more on the wild side and out of control.
Ahh, the beauty of spring. Isn't the variety amazing? I miss being able to grow some of these plants but other favorites have taken their place. Please take time to enjoy your garden, the blossoms are so fleeting. Tonight we floated in the pool and admired all the blooms in our back yard, it is wonderful to enjoy the hours of labor that you spent to create a wonderful garden.
after spending the weekend by our "northern ocean" which really isn't an ocean... just the hugest lake I've ever seen, Lake Superior, its nice coming home and getting to see your flowers.
I'm amazed at your flowers and pictures. Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful blessings.

Take care, Merle.
I am glad that I am not the only one that doesn't know the names of all the beautiful flowers!

These are lovely. Your garden must be such a pleasure in which to relax!
Really great pics, as usual Sandy, love seeing the flowers you have and find, cause I sure haven't got any up here in my cold, wet 50 degree WI !!!
Hope all is well with you, have a great weekend!! Hugs, Finn

Those billowy white ones look like pillows ... they look so soft.

Thanks for posting these beautiful flowers. They are uplifting to my soul. I especially love the honeysuckle and the purples.
