This honeybee is taking good care of my peonies.
Cucoo is hiding in the flowers again…I don’t know if he’s hiding from, Daisy the cat, or from Mango Layla…or just playing around. May he's just looking for the bee.
This is the first time I have ever had peonies. This bunch I’ve had for one year and aren’t they beautiful? I’m very proud of them because they are doing so well. I also planted them near the chain link fence so I can tie them up. Peony blooms have a bad tendency of falling to the ground, which I don’t like….So I tied them to the fence with green Velcro tape made for tomato plants. It’s soft and doesn’t injure the stems.
In the background you can see a darker red color peony. This one I’ve had for 2 years and it was half dead when I bought it. I have this weird thing about plants that I find drying up & dieing in stores…I feel like I have to rescue them, so that they can survive…And since they’re damaged, they take longer to grow & eventually bloom…but they do survive.
This year the red peony only had 2 blooms on it. Talk about bad luck for that sweet peony plant…the neighbor sprayed it with weed killer last year and the plant dried up and died. This spring, was I surprised to see it begin to sprout again. That plant really wants to grow…it’s a survivor.
Here’s a closer picture of my little survivor…Isn’t she beautiful!
The temps here are hovering around 90º and my peonies are fading fast, so this will probably be the last pictures I post about peonies.

Love your peonies! 90º???? We are on the edge of shiver here. It's 49º as I write this!
Aren't they beautiful! I am glad the temps are hot somewhere else. I thought that just Florida had fallen into "hell". I wonder if it has to do with global warming. It seems hotter to me in the last couple of years.
I just love your peonies!
The "Survivor" is my favorite :-D
Check out Pea's Corner Blog she has some "Survivor" pansies. Her link is on my blog if you need it.
Beautiful peonies!
Wow, those are some lovey peonies. About the prettiest I've seen! Gorgeous color!!
I saw Cucoo's mate today at a store I was in. I immediately thought of Cucoo! It was his twin.
Ah, you have peonies! I nearly bought some but I knew they wouldn't bloom for much longer this season.
I am the SAME way with half dead plants/flowers at the nursery.
I have peonies too and they're just about ready to bloom...today I have to go tie them up because once they're open, they fall all over the place, they're so top heavy lol I love your survivor peony, goes to show something so delicate can have a lot of fight in it!!
Oh your peonies are so beautiful. It is just too hot to grow them for long down here but they still sell them in the stores. Cucoo looks like he is really enjoying the flowers.
Those peonies and Cucoo are neat. Quite beautiful!
I love peonies! Those are glorious colors. Your survivor has a huge bloom. Mine aren't quite blooming yet. Soon though. You did a great job with the pictures, and that cucoo is such a helper!
Good for you for saving the half dead plants :)
I thought of you the other day when I was chasing a butterfly :)
