Grounded

The grapes are coming along and we have had plenty of rain...almost a shower daily.

Not much has been going on around here. I have been grounded from riding since this past weekend because of problems with the back brakes on my motorcycle so, Jimmy took the bike to the shop and had new brakes and new front and back tires put on. There was a slight problem with the new front brakes, so yesterday the bike went back to the shop and it was quickly corrected.

With that done I'm ready to ride again, but I woke up this morning to a rainy day...and Jimmy & I have a policy: if it rains, we clean house. This has worked out pretty well for us and, this way we don't miss a nice day outdoors because we are cleaning the house.

Nothing much is going on in the yard either...the waterlilys are still blooming and Jybow stopped for a quick pose. What do you call cats that jump in front of the camera everytime they see one and strike a pose?

These lillies have done great this year and are in the vicinity of the watergarden and are blooming right now. I love their deep dark color.

In the same area, as the lillies above, Daisy and Ferbie are relaxing. Ferbie is the one laying on the rocks and he's our only tomcat.

This is Jimmy's bike and the bike we have been riding because of my bad brakes. Jimmy was happy to be on his bike again...he's really missed riding it since he has been teaching me to ride. He told me yesterday that I am ready for a solo ride on my big red bike now. He was planning on riding his bike today and letting me ride mine...alone. WISH ME LUCK! And when this happens, I will be wearing my helmet.

The picture above was taken at the Renfro Valley Restaurant where we stopped to eat on Sunday...we were the last to leave. It has strange hours for a Sunday...it closes at 3 PM.

Great-grandson Dylan went to the Zoo on Saturday and here he is, with his daddy Michael, petting a goat. Dylan loved the petting zoo!!

Here we are visiting Matt & Tori and as usual, Matt is tormenting his wife...in a loving way. *VBS* He's not really pulling on her hair and she secretly loves all the attention he bestows on her. Next October they will celebrate their second year of marriage.

And other than feeding and petting Brian & Reva's cats & kittens (and one dog) this week, while they are away...we haven't done much...Remember, I told you I was grounded and have to clean the house today, to boot. Where is that sunshine?

How nice that Jimmy helps you clean house! We have not had any rain here yet!

Loved all the pictures. Your cats look like they live the life of Riley!!

Oh, I knew where you were immediately in that picture taken at Renfro Valley!!

Your garden looks like it's thriving!
Our water lillies suffered a major setback last week when the raccoons got into the pond again. They trash everything in their quest for fish. They got about three fish and ruined over half the lillies....

Sue...sorry about your watergarden and the destruction caused by the raccoons. Last year we had quite a bit of destruction to ours also, but we thought it was done by a neighbors dog going for a swim.

Sandy, thanks for the lovely comments on my blog today about my mother. I appreciate everything you said.

Your cats are so cute and they certainly do live a life of Riley, just like mine. Right now most are asleep somewhere in the house because it's too hot and muggy outside for their delicate dispositions.

Take care and good luck cleaning house. I go back to the MD in Nashville on Tuesday and if I'm lucky he will discharge me. Otherwise, I'm still going to therapy 5xweek. Our lives revolve around that little activity. Otherwise, we would be on the road coming to visit you all.

Motherkitty...nothing would please me more than a visit from you & dennis.

I'm just about ready for my maiden voyage and may pop in on you when you least expect it.
And maybe you can call bornfool and we can all meet at your favorite pizza place.

Lz...I failed to mention that those are purple concord grapes.

Sandy, do you get enough grapes to harvest them and do something with them or do you just have enough for a few snacks? I love grapes!! Love the pictures of your cats...they sure look comfortable in the garden area:-) Your lilies are gorgeous too!! Cute picture of Dylan at the petting zoo...I still like to go to those! lol

Pea...we get an over abundance of grapes most years. Enough for everyone to take some home and make whatever they like.

I just like to snack on them and Jimmy used to make wine for the neighbor, but they have moved to another state.

This year there are 3 extra vines given to us by Brian a couple of years ago...So the Four Bears better be planning on making some grape jelly or juice or something. All 5 vines are loaded this year.

I have a cat sitting at my feet as I write and four more scattered someplace.

Three are babies. They just keep turning up.

That last picture reminds me of how I and my six brothers used to tease our only sister when we were growing up on the farm.
