In search of Fall Colors

We went out riding again today in search of some changing leaves. We've been out riding everyday that it's not raining and sometimes we ride 250 miles in a day, but today we struck gold. We found changing leaves around Cumberland Falls State Park in Kentucky. They're just beginning to change so in the next couple of weeks it should really be pretty.

Here is a picture of the falls on Lake Cumberland. I had lots of pictures that I wanted to post, but this is all blogger would allow me to upload, so I'll post the others later.

Here's Jimmy sitting on the wooden fence with the Cumberland River behind him.

Here you can see the leaves beginning to change just a little.

This is a stopping point with a lookout across the road, not to far from the falls. This is a mile from the horseback riding stables which we returned to because when we passed the stables there was a biker who had broken down and was working on his bike. It was too late to pull in when we passed so we came here to turn around and head back to see if we could help. As it turned out he and his girlfriend had been broken down for about an hour and Jimmy helped him finish working on his bike.

As our bikes were all getting ready to leave the stable area, suddenly Jimmy's bike wouldn't start...so we all shut our bikes off again and began trying to find out what the problem was. We had been riding and stopping all day and suddenly when the key was turned on, there were no lights. The first thing they did was test the battery and it sparked really well. Then they checked for burned out fuses...not that. Then Jimmy decided to remove the battery cables and waalah...the lights flickered. One of the battery cable connections just decided to become corroded, so Jimmy gave it a few licks with his pocket knife and we were on our way home.

The other couple had a long way to go...one lived in Tennessee and the other in Bowling Green, Ky...I don't know which way they were heading first.

I don't know how this picture got here, but it's a picture taken on Sunday in our yard. Maybe I wanted to show you how much redder the Burning Bush has gotten.

Back to our ride....look at those beautiful colors...I can't wait to come here again next week and the week after, to see the changes.

Here's the Burning Bush tonight when we got home...It's really looking very pretty. I'll take a picture of it in the daytime...maybe not tomorrow because it is supposed to rain...but I'll do it soon.

I hope that you had a nice day today too and I'll try to post the rest of my pictures in another post.

What a nice ride you had. Such pretty pictures too. I just love that burning bush. It was nice of you to help out fellow bikers and glad it was just a battery cable for Jimmy to clean.

Leave it to you two to come to someone's rescue! We know first hand that we can always count on you two. Jimmy sure was a big help to Brian this past weekend with our car, Brian sure did appreciate it! It is great to have people like you in the world! I am sure those two appreciated it too!

Nice pictures!

Fall photos are magnificent, I'm in a semi tropical area so we get VERY little fall foliage, and it's 6 months away too.

It seems like a wonderful way to see the changing season, with the wind in your face, up close! I imagine that it helps to be somewhat of a mechanic if you are out riding, and it sounds like your DH is a good one!

Well, that all looks very familiar to me!! :)

The leaves are starting to fall some here now. With a small gust of wind earlier when I was sitting on the porch a whole bunch came flying off. Winter is coming, so get that riding in now!! So glad Jimmy didn't have a serious problem with his bike!

What a beautiful water fall.

I also enjoy the turning of the leaves in the fall. It's so pretty and inviting. I'm so glad that you are able to enjoy it on your bikes like that.

I bet you there's nothing better than riding your bike to see the colours of nature!! Our trees are already starting to get bare now, the colour peek seems to have passed. Can't wait to see your other pictures, these are all so gorgeous!!

What a pretty place for a ride. Lovely leaf color and blue blue skies!
Your Jimmy has a heart of gold and so do you. I'll bet the other bikers were very glad of the help you gave.
I posted a pic 0f our burning bush too. It's still tiny after 3 years. Sure is a slow grower!
Hope you have a lovely weekend Sandy.
Thanks for sharing all these wonderful photos :)
