Welcome to our world, Kyra Jayne

On Wednesday, January 24 2007, we all eagerly awaited the arrival of our second great-grandchild. Big brother Dylan and his great Papaw occupy their time by reading the flyers & notices on the walls of the hospital. To our amazement Dylan remembered what each notice said as we heard him later repeat his condensed version to his dad...and it was amazingly accurate.

Kyra Jayne made her arrival into this world on Wednesday, January 24th at 5:03 p.m. She arrived a couple days earlier than scheduled because of a knot in the umbilical cord which caused her heart beat to become irregular. She weighed in at 6 lbs. 10 ounces.

A couple of hours after Kyra's delivery by C-section, Erica made her appearance and...as soon as she spotted all the cameras & video cameras pointed in her direction she quickly pulled the cover over her head. I guess I would have done the same thing and I don't blame her. *LOL* I don't think that she realized that she had so many relatives waiting at the elevator doors to greet her.

The cover comes down off Erica's head when we tell her that the nurse is bringing Kyra over to the window for Erica to see. A few moments are spent there admiring her new baby and then she is wisked off to her room which is just a few feet away from the nursery.

This is Erica, who is Jimmy's granddaughter. This picture was taken in the summer months when she was pregnant with Dylan, but she hasn't changed much...other than now being the mother of our only two great-grandchildren.
Erica and Michael are wonderful young parents and Jimmy & I wish them all the best in this world. We love you. Erica & the baby will be discharged to go home today and that's when all the fun begins. *LOL* Jimmy & I love being grandparents....Kiss the babies, play with them and if they get to roudy or cry, hand them back to mommy.

Congrats Sandy.....babys are such a special blessing, whether they are ours or our grandchildren, or as the case may be, great grandchildren.....I'm awaiting my new grandson in a couple of weeks. I'm going over to stay a few days with my daughter while her hubby is out of town.....oh please God, don't let the little guy arrive, while his daddy is out of town... I just don't want my daughter to feel alone, so I shall visit her.... judy

So sweet and cuddly. You and Jimmy will make great grand parents again. Erica seems to have done well in the mothering department. Family support that is what it is all about.

Surely you can't be a great grandma!!

Many congratulations to Erica and Michael. And to you and Jimmy for becoming great grandparents - again. It sounds like the new addition has been very much anticipated.

Hope all is well over there.
