It's getting to look a lot like Christmas

Yes, now that the Thanksgiving Holiday is over it's time to start thinking about Christmas, but I didn't just start having the Christmas spirit after Thanksgiving....I started getting excited about Christmas along about in September, and the feeling has just been rolling along and getting bigger & bigger as it rolls on.

I feel like Santa...and some of you that know me, know that I also look kinda like Santa in a way...the jiggly way! hehehe or maybe I should start saying, ho ho ho.

I've spent months strolling through stores, scouting out for that perfect gift, but I made the mistake of having Jimmy along. He doesn't like me buying Christmas gifts so early...like in September. So here I am shopping online once again. I started my shopping in my favorite store, you can see it in the picture, on Monday. I like it because you can choose to have things shipped to the store and pay no shipping charges and returning anything you've ordered online is so easy. Most of my orders are being delivered to my home, because I get really excited when I receive packages, even if I ordered them for someone else as gifts. Do any of you feel that way...I mean get excited like a kid when a package arrives even though you ordered it? This serves three purposes for me personally...1) the excitement of opening the package and seeing what's inside when the delivery guy brings it to my door, 2) wrapping up each gift so I can see the excited face of the child that opens it and, 3) Once I've received and opened all of my orders, I don't want anything for Christmas myself.
And to those of you that know that I asked for a camera...well I'm not getting one because when my camera heard that it was getting replaced it started acting right and hasn't had a single malfunction since.

The neighbors all around me have put up their Christmas lights, nativity scenes, blow-up Santa's, elves and reindeer on the roofs. You should have seen Jimmy & I, go into a panic when the very large blow-up Santa on the ground next door was found deflated, collapsed like a red puddle of plastic goo on the grass. We immediately thought that Santa must have been attacked by one of our many cats, but soon the neighbors had him back up...someone just forgot to put the plug in snuggly. What a relief! Whew! I really think that the cats are afraid of Santa cause he's so000 big and always swaying around a bit by the wind...at least I hope they are for my pocketbook's sake.

Here's a Christmas Poem I got in an email this morning with the instructions to share. I don't know who wrote it. It must have been that person, you know the one...Author Unknown...he/she writes some of the best stuff going around these days.

Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

Why the PC Police
had taken away,
the reason for Christmas -
no one could say.

The children were told
by their schools not to sing,
about Shepherds and Wise Men
and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings,
the teachers would say
December 25th
is just a 'Holiday'.

Yet the shoppers were ready
with cash, checks and credit.
Pushing folks down
to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna,
an X BOX, an I-pod.
Something was changing,
something quite odd!

Retailers promoted
Ramadan and Kwanzaa
in hopes to sell books by
Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging
their trees upside down.
At Lowe's the word Christmas -
was nowhere to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples
and Penny's and Sears:
You won't hear the word Christmas;
it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive,
Di-ver-si-ty
are words that were used
to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden,
now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen.
On Boxer, on Rather,
on Kerry, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate,
there arose such a clatter
to eliminate Jesus,
in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word,
as they took away our faith.
Forbidden to speak
of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas
was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season,
stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate 'Winter Break'
under your 'Dream Tree',
sipping your Starbucks,
listen to me.

Choose your words carefully,
choose what you say.
Shout
MERRY CHRISTMAS,
not
Happy Holiday!

You're a gal after my own heart...I so love Christmas also:-) Like you, I love choosing gifts carefully and watching the recipients' faces when they open them. It wouldn't bother me at all if I didn't receive anything...most Christmases I don't even think of opening my own gifts, I'm too busy watching everyone else open theirs! lol Love that poem...LOL Enjoy this wonderful time of year, dear Sandy! xoxo

Hi Sandy,

I love Christmas too- everything about it- (tho I might fuss a little now and then when things overwhelm me!)

I got that email from someone too! A shame the way things have turned-IMHO!

As for those blow-up santas-etc... I don't really like them that much! (But to each their own) I like the old fashioned look for Christmas decorating.

Speaking of which... I haven't done any of mine yet- but did do some shopping today!

I hope your camera keeps behaving. I will have to try that next time something isn't working properly: I will threaten to replace it. Hope it works. lol

I just thought of something: maybe I could use that idea on my husband. Threaten to replace him, that is.

That's a great poem Mrs. Clause. The kids have to remind me to open my presents, because Like you, I'd much rather hand the presents out and watch them open theirs. Things change as we get older :)
It's looking very Christmassy here. We're supposed to get a snow and ice storm tonight. Not much fun!
Have fun shopping!! :)
