New Beginnings

Today is the start of a New Year and I make no resolutions except to be a better, more loving person.
I ask for no power or domination over anyone. Power & domination over one another are what cause wars to be fought, and arguments among ourselves.
I will try my hardest not to make judgments on others as this seems to be something I really need to work on....I mean really, really need to work on this.
I also need to stop giving advice when not asked to do so. I think mothers have an especially hard time with this one, and grownup children don't hear it as advice, but criticism.

Well it looks like my first sentence isn't exactly right...I seem to have thought of several resolutions that I see that I need to work on and I'm sure that I have missed a few. There must be a hidden resolution in this last sentence I'm sure, but what is it?

I'm sure that my children/family could give me a long list of things that I need to work on, but they can list them in the comments and I'll do my best with their suggestions.

A New Year brings new beginnings and I hope that this new year will bring everyone all the joy and happiness that they desire. If we all show love & respect for one another in all of our relationships, we will find inner peace and everyone's inner beauty will shine brightly for all to see and love.

My youngest daughter brought it to my attention that we are focusing on the wrong things when we talk to small children. For example, when we kid around with them and ask them if their new little girlfriend is pretty or cute...or their boyfriend handsome. We should instead be asking them if they are "nice" or "respectful" or "thoughtful," and things like that. We're indoctrinating our children to look at outer beauty instead of the goodness that lives within each person.

This year lets look for the goodness that lives within all of us and bring it to light.

very very good. I heard my sissy say that about judgeing looks and it was really good and stuck with me.
Sounds like you and I are working on the same things, love you and proud to be your daughter.

Wise thoughts, Sandy. It seems to me though, that you're one of the most loving people I know.
Grown up children still need advise from time to time, and they'll probably thank you for it eventually :)
I guess there's room for improvement in each of us. Well, I don't guess....I know.
It's a good resolution to strive for.
Happy New Year, dear friend. And to Jimmy as well.
And pats for the kitties.

I think all children should listen to mom and pop then say, "Thanks Mom(Pop)." When rain falls on a tree it falls from the top down.
