A Special Phone Call

These past couple of weeks have been very special for me, reconnecting with very special people that were once a part of my everyday life back in the late 1950's & 60's. My brother Dennis found them on Facebook and I'm so thankful that he is so persistent in his pursuits...he doesn't give up easily.

After exchanging emails I was given a phone number to call and I was so nervous about making that call that it took me a few sleepless nights before I finally made the call on Monday. The hesitation wasn't because of fear, but because I didn't want to hear his voice and begin to cry. The rush of emotions were overwhelming to say the least and it suddenly seemed as if time had stood still even though it had been a number of years since we had last seen each other...approx. forty-two years if my calculations are right. I'll have to say that I was a chatter box on the phone when I should have been listening, but hopefully this is the beginning of a renewed friendship between us and the start of many phone calls and perhaps a visit one day soon.

I guess you're wondering who I'm talking about. A very long time ago my father married their mother and we became a family....a large blended family of six children. It was to become one of the happiest and most memorable times in my life which molded much of my adult life.

There is much in life to be thankful for and this is one of those times.

The kitten is on my lap as I type which makes it difficult to type with on hand.
