I went for a walk today

I went for a walk today, but I didn't go far. I actually stayed within the boundaries of my own property which isn't very big at all. I did find plenty to see although the picture above still looks rather bleak and lifeless.

This is the little creek that runs along the back of the property line. It's not a very pretty creek with its muddy banks, but there is life living in these waters and the creek also draws wildlife to it as they come to drink.
These next two pictures are of buzzards that are finishing up their meal. Some of you call them turkey vultures...I think they're the same. Last week there were about 15 buzzards here in this same spot feasting over something which had died. Today I only saw these .

The woodpecker finally stopped to eat while I was nearby. I wish I could have gotten closer, but I used my zoom so the picture is a little fuzzy around the edges.
Little flowers were growing along the forest floor. These little pink flowers were VERY TINY and that's a very small little bug.
This little Yellow Finch posed for me and practically let me stand under him. He turned all around so that I could take pictures of each side of him. He was very accommodating and I thanked him for his time.

This little snail was hiding among the rocks and I almost stepped on him.
More little flowers.
And finally the Creeping Phlox. It is just beginning to start to bloom and I'm afraid that the purple has taken over the lovely deep pink phlox that was also planted here.

Jimmy mowed the grass today as I walked around and checked on the kitten and took all of these pictures. I think mama cat might move the kitten because she was frightened by the close proximity of the lawn mower today. She looked like she was scouting around for a quieter place to move her kitten to. I hope she reconsiders.

It was a beautiful day today with lovely clear blue skies and lots of warm sunshine. I hope everyone was able to go out and enjoy the day. But on another note, please say a prayer for Doubleknot's husband Steve. He was taken to the hospital today because he was having trouble breathing after several days of what seemed to be the flu. My prayers go out to them.

I mowed today but our ground was soaking wet and I left those tire marks on our lawn. In some places the grass was over a foot high. This was my only chance to mow; they call for rain tonight. I am surprised that those Yellow Finch just posed for you the way they did in those photos.
