Jerry, We Love You

I can't believe what a beautiful day this has been.  Every day the air gets warmer and softer and today was a perfect day to ride.  The weatherman has been threatening us with rain every day, but it's not happening. I don't even see any clouds in the sky.

We're all still praying for my step-brother Jerry who is not doing well.  He's still in a coma-like condition after a relapse from his initial stroke.  Jerry was doing so well in rehab, even beginning to stand up and take steps with some help from his big brother, and then he had a turn for the worse.  Jerry spoiled us with his great progress and now we want him to do it again.  We want to hear his laughter and read his facebook jokes and messages....and I want to hear his voice when he calls me just to talk.

Things are not looking well for Jerry today, with one problem after another arising.  He needs our prayers, the family needs prayers. God, if you are listening, please take care of Jerry.  Be by his side to soothe any anxieties that he might be having if he is aware of things, show yourself to him and keep him comfortable and unafraid during his time of crisis.  Watch over the family and help them cope with all the bad news that they are receiving.  Help the doctors to find a way to heal Jerry and to bring him back to his family.  In Jesus' name I pray and ask for your help.  Amen

Oh wow....look how many days it's been since I've been here.  It's a frosty cold morning here and Reva is still in the hospital.  Her regular doctor is returning to work today, so continuity in care is on its way with only one doctor taking care of Reva instead of a different doctor each day. We all wish Reva well and hope she's back on her feet soon.

Jimmy has been a bit under the weather himself, still complaining of that same pain in his left chest and doing more napping than usual.  I hope the doctors find out the direct cause of his problem soon and fix it.  That hasn't stopped him from still trying to do all the things that he's always done though, although on a slower playing field these days.

Tomorrow we are both looking forward to seeing Zac & Jen.  They are both busy young adults so it's always nice when Zac calls and invites us out to lunch.  As grandparents it's always nice to be included in their plans.  

My day is just beginning.  The sun is out and it looks like it's going to be another crisp cold sunny day full of surprises :))  Good Surprises.....

Happy Birthday Scott!

You wouldn't believe how warm it was here today.  The temp was about as close to 70 degrees as it could get and bikers were out riding by the dozens.  I hope the New Year starts out this same way but I suspect that it's probably too good to be true for very long.

We went to visit our little patient and she seemed better today, which gave us hope....lots of hope.  Of course we know that she was probably medicated and wasn't feeling much pain but they let her have a sip of Sprite and brought her some Orange Jello which I don't think she touched.  They also brought in a rectangular bucket and set it near her just in case she needed it.  She's not contagious, just a very sick girl.

Today is my son-in-law's birthday and tonight everyone will celebrate with him as he brings in the New Year.

I never said I was COOL...

It's 66 degrees here, according to my little temperature gadget on my laptop and Jimmy's wearing a long sleeve shirt plus a quilted flannel shirt over that...I think he's cold. I jokingly asked him who he'd been kissing over the weekend, because he's come down with a nasty cold and sore throat and sounds awful. I just hope he's better by Thursday when he has a doctor's appointment. Heaven forbid that he should go see the doctor WHEN he's sick.
That reminds me of an excuse I often heard when I was working in a doctor's office. Patients with scheduled appointments would call in and say that they didn't think they could keep their appointment because they were sick, so could we reschedule them for another time...bla bla bla.

Now come on! Isn't being sick the best time to see your doctor? I even asked Jimmy if he wanted to go see the doctor today at our local walk-in clinic and he said that he thought he'd wait until he felt better, maybe tomorrow.

Go figure.......

Thank God for Antibiotics

Things are finally looking up and I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I finally broke down and went to see a doctor and he gave me an assortment of medications and I'm already feeling better. I'm on my way to recovery.

Today is going to be a BEAUTIFUL DAY with clear blue skies and temps in the 70s. I don't know if that's what the weatherman predicts, but that's my own personal prediction for today, and I'm planning on going outside and soaking in some of that beautiful sunshine.
