Ended up having a pretty good day today. I saw lots of interesting things and I drove on shady country roads that were simply gorgeous and very shady. You know those kinds of roads that practically look like tunnels surrounded on three sides by trees densely covered with leaves shading the blacktop. Those kinds of roads.
I first drove to London, Kentucky and turned off at the exit that leads to Somerset. I was planning on stopping to see Brandon & Krystal, but I couldn't reach them by phone. I drove all the way to Somerset and also thought about trying to reach my old blogging friend Rachel Phelps, but at the last minute I decided against that because I set my GPS to head to Winchester to Lyv's birthday party, but unfortunately I got side tracked and never made it. I did however drive through Winchester and also stopped by Addie Mae Osborne's old house. I think her son is living there because I saw a sheriff's car parked in the driveway.
The route that I took to Winchester was a very long route. From Richmond, Ky. I headed for Irvine, Ky. and took the bypass there on highway 89. I had changed my mind by this time knowing that I'd never make Lyv's birthday party on time, so I was headed to Red River Gorge, but when I got to the turnoff I decided against it. Route 89 to Winchester was very scenic, but also very long. I finally arrived in Winchester sometime after 4:00 p.m.
After I left Winchester I stopped at Boonesboro State Park and had my lunch. Of course it was a very late lunch by that time which only consisted of the rest of my protein shake, some water and a fig newton. I took the old Red House road back to Richmond, Ky., then on to Berea where I stopped at the Silver Creek Mountain Bike Trail.
Before I stopped at the bike trail I spotted the adult geese with their babies which have gotten much bigger now and are getting their colorful feathers and are looking more like the adults, only smaller.
Below are two pictures of the geese in two groups. Most of them were together, but then there were two other small groups, but I only snapped a picture of the closest group to me. It looked like a mom & dad and their two babies.
The picture of the largest group is darker because I was facing the sun. Sometimes when they cross the road all the cars have to stop because they span from sidewalk to sidewalk on each side of the road. I don't know why, but they get in a straight line when crossing the road. So it takes them awhile to get all across.
I finally made it home around 7:30 p.m. and even with all my travels today I managed to clean and vacuum the house before I left on my staycation of sorts and in between going to Somerset and turning around and heading to Winchester I managed to stop by my house and mow all of the back yard. I feel like I accomplished something today and I felt more normal than I have in a long time.
I may have felt physically normal, but I was still lonely and wishing for some company which I never found. When I finally got home Rick was here and he made some snide remarks to me. I could tell that he was still upset with me, but what else is new......he's always upset at me because I leave the house. He told me that I should have stayed away and stayed gone all night long and I ignored him and went outside and cleaned out my kitty cat's water bowl and put it in the shade. The temperature rose to 86 degrees before I got home and is expected to be 90 by morning. I'm glad to see the hot weather, but maybe not so hot as in the 90's.
Tomorrow is Monday and another work day for Rick. He'll probably sleep on the couch again which is fine with me. He does that thinking that it upsets me, but I like having the whole bed to myself. This morning he didn't make coffee for me, so I knew that he was still mad at me for not letting him drive my Prius to work. My Prius is too nice to be used as a work vehicle, and besides he has the Saturn that is piled high with his tools. I told him to use the $100 bonus for gas that his boss gave him yesterday as a bribe to get him to go to work on Saturday. My Prius is always full of gas and he didn't want to spend HIS MONEY for gas. It's his job not mine and if he can't be nice then I'm not filling up the Saturn with gas anymore. I was always glad to fill it for him, but then he started treating me badly so I stopped. That seems only fair to me. After all he's driving my Saturn to work when he should be driving his own truck to work. Enough about Rick the free-loader.
I forgot to mention that I stopped at Lake Reba in Richmond and watched people fish for a while. I can't believe that I went and did so much today.
Rick is trying to piss me off right now. He doesn't know what I'm doing on this computer in my bedroom, so he turned up the sound on the TV to maximum volume. He has such childish ways.
