Slugs....

Today we laid around the house and watched movies and behaved like a couple of slugs.

It was so cold outside that I begged Jimmy to turn on the heat. When he agreed I ran to get the flashlight so that we could view the pilot setting, on our gas logs, so that we wouldn't accidentally blow up the house in our feeble attempt to get some heat into this house.

Now I'm all cozy and I need a cup of hot cocoa with a little cinnamon and some marshmallows on top.

Close-up

It's in soooo many pieces...

Jimmy got the solar light fixed and all glued back together
and guess what?
It's working tonight.

Petey the babysitter

I spoke too soon about our quiet peaceful day. No sooner had I hit the Publish Post button on the previous post than I heard the little cry of a week old kitten and as I looked up I saw Petey, our young tomcat, carrying a tiny baby kitten in his mouth. He gently set the baby kitten down and was trying to get a better grip to carry it off to a new location. Jimmy jumped up from his chair where he was watching Butler & Michigan State play basketball in the NCAA Basketball championships and took the baby kitten away from Petey and put it back where it belonged. Petey didn't like having the kitten taken from him and for the first time in his life he hissed at Jimmy. Thank goodness the mother kitty was outside taking a break, but she does let Petey babysit while she is away. I don't know if Petey had her permission to move her kittens, but I seriously doubt it. So while the kittens were all awake, thanks to Petey, I took the opportunity to change their bedding which made mother cat very happy.

The kittens are all safe with their mother and nursing at the moment.

Reading....

Reading is a good way to pass the time catching up on local and statewide news. Petey even looks interested but what Petey and the other cats are interested in most are the pages. When Jimmy gets through reading the paper, the cats get to play with the newspaper, crawling under and through the pages playing hide n seek.

Hi, I'm still here. It's been sunny and warm so I've been spending as much time as I can outside doing some yard work. There's nothing like getting down and dirty with the dirt. I have some tulip and daffodil bulbs to plant before it's too late that I got for my birthday from my brother Dennis and his family when they were down here visiting.

Some leaves had also fallen around the water garden that needed to be cleared away along with pulling up some weeds out of the rocks. There's always something to do outside and when it's as pretty as it was today, it's very enjoyable and rewarding working outdoors.

Petey, our kitten, is getting so cute but he's discovered the joy of cords that dangle, so I've introduced him to empty boxes as a diversion. So far so good as long as he doesn't see a dangling cord, haha. Today he spent the day outside with us chasing falling leaves and climbing the trees. He had no problem climbing back down from the Ash Tree but Jimmy thought he was going to have to call the fire department to get me back down :O

*****

Jimmy has been extremely happy and walking around with a great big smile on his face lately...and it's all because of me. I was wandering around the house the other day and found the kitchen again. Summer plays havoc on home cooked meals because we're away from home so much, but now that the weather is cooling it's nice getting back to fixing things we like to eat right here at home. Of course we still have to go out for pizza and baked spaghetti from Papaleno's at least one day a week...can't give that up.

Well Petey is here and wants to help me blog, so I better say goodbye before something awful happens. I hope that your day was as enjoyable as mine.

Petey

Today started out all rainy so I let Petey come inside to play. I brought out some of the cat toys and spread them around in the dining room so Petey would have something to play with and after batting ping pong balls & tiny soft fleece mice around he always came back to my shoes.
The kittens all liked my sandals and I guess it's because of the holes they could put their paws & heads through. Today I had to loosen the straps a little because Petey has grown and he kept getting stuck. Petey doesn't seem to mind that he's the only kitten remaining. All of the other kittens are gone now, with my brother Dennis taking Tom with him when he left. Dennis has renamed Tom to Tomasita or something like that, because Tom turned out to be a girl.
Petey gets tired easily and takes a lot of cat naps and here he is napping in my shoes. After he woke up, his mother, Princess Pinky wanted to go outside so we put both of them out for the night. While on vacation all of the cats got used to staying outside all day & night and now they prefer being outside and that's a good thing, because now the cats don't wake us up in their usual way like this...CLICK HERE.

We spent a quiet day at home today with Jimmy's daughter, granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters stopping by to visit for a while. It was nice seeing all of them and happy baby Lillian is growing like a little weed and getting cuter all the time. Sandie invited us to a family gathering being held out on Harold's farm tomorrow afternoon with a hay ride planned for all the kids. It sounded like fun but I'm not sure if Jimmy will feel well enough to go. His side and his stomach are still giving him lots of pain.

Hope that your day was perfect with sunny skies and spent with the people you love. Life's too short, so enjoy every minute of it.

A chair full of kittens...

And the one that is looking straight at me is my Petey. Hope no one has adopted him/her yet and if they have I hope it's to a very good home. I miss you Petey....
