Springing back to Winter Weather again

I'm sure that this cold snap is going to be brief only because March is just a day or two away.  The Winter months always look hopeful once March approaches and Spring is right behind.

My Maple tree is already budding and some of my plants have broken through the ground.  The Buttercups are just about to bust out and bloom any day now.  I've seen other Buttercups already blooming  around town, so to me, this marks the beginnings of Spring.

The tomcats have been here for a couple of months now making their rounds, looking for that perfect mate.  Of course, my Squeaker is very pretty, but she's fixed but they still chase her around.  She hides, but gets caught at times by the looks of her ruffled up fur.

I'm finding myself in a much better mood now knowing the warm weather is just right around the corner here to stay for a few months anyway.  Even on the dreary days I have something to look forward to now.

Even tho today has turned cold again, and it will be below freezing again tonight, I'm still hopeful and I'm not letting this little cold snap get me down, because I know that it's just a temporary little setback.

Blackberry Winter

It was hot and humid enough to have the a/c turned on this past week, but by this afternoon Jimmy and I both agreed to turn the heat back on, or put a coat on over our sweatshirts.

Since the blackberries are in full bloom right now, this cold spell is called Blackberry Winter.

It's a little cold out

My title about says it all, it's a little cold out, but not so cold that you can't enjoy being outside.  The sun is shining brightly and there is an ever so slight breeze blowing.  I love these kinds of days about as much as I love hot summer days.  These are the days when canoeing on Elkhorn in Frankfort can be mighty challenging.  The water temp is still frigid so you sure don't want to fall in.  Right now the only word I come up with to describe such an adventure is Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Cold Sunday

It's a sunny cold Sunday afternoon and a good day for watching movies and eating pizza.

Last night I put a small oil heater in Jimmy's bedroom to keep him warm since the temperature dropped down to around 34 degrees. When I checked on Jimmy this morning I was surprised at how toasty and nice his room was compared to the rest of the house. Me and the cats were cold and they didn't even want to go outside this morning. When I opened the door to feed the outdoor cats, the indoor cats stepped back and said in unison, "You ain't putting me out there!"

I took a hot shower to warm me up and then I got out another oil heater just like the one Jimmy has in his room and fired that baby up. I don't know why I just don't turn on the gas heat but I think it's because I want this cold spell to be nothing but temporary.

Jimmy is feeling much better today, no nausea to speak of, and he even ate breakfast and went outside to feed the squirrels after he took a shower. He thinks he's passed the hump with the chemo and the road is all down hill from here. I'm glad that he's so optimistic because that puts a smile on my face and makes me feel that everything is going to be all right.

Brrrrrrrrrr

We turned off the A/C this morning and the house is colder with the windows open than it was with the A/C on. I'm almost tempted to put on a sweatshirt this morning. The next three days are supposed to be cool and isn't this the middle of July?
